Peter Taggart was born on the glittering Gold Coast and raised in St George – a small farming township in southern Queensland. In a painfully ordinary childhood, he didn’t play with corn-husk dolls, nor did he ride around on his family’s billion-acre property on a shiny BMX. Instead, he sat inside on hot summer days, eating TeeVee snacks and watching Fast Forward and '70s sitcoms.
At 17, after failing to score a spot with the QLD Reds due to his blatant unfamiliarity with the sport of Rugby Union, Peter arrived in Brisbane, Queensland and completed a Bachelor of Journalism at the Queensland University of Technology.
Peter has written for The Big Issue, the Courier Mail, The Guardian, Meanjin, ArtsHub and Filmme Fatales. He has hosted shows on 2SER/Star Observer Digital and 4ZzZ and has contributed to various programs on triple j and 612 ABC Brisbane. With Rebecca Shaw, he hosts the pop culture non-phenomenon podcast Bring A Plate. Press have called it 'deceptively random' and 'infrequent'.
